A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a device created to remove diesel particulate matter (DPM) or soot, from the exhaust of diesel engines. Diesel particulate filters can remove approximately 85% of the DPM found in diesel emissions. Depending on the filter and other equipment it is paired will periodically attain 100% soot removal.
